F2F New Media Art From Finland Publication


F2F New Media Art from Finland offers the largest and most up-to-date view on the contemporary Finnish new media arts. The F2F publication contains commentaries by North American and Finnish scholars and critics: Minna Tarkka, Researcher, Professor Erkki Huhtanen, and Professor Timothy Druckrey. In the three main essays of the publication they reflect on the challenges and potentials of the contemporary information society and ponder the role of new media art in it.

The Introduction is written by Marko Tandefelt, Curator of the exhibition and Juulia Kauste, the Exhibition Producer. The essays are followed by illustrated descriptions of the F2F artists and their artworks written by Juulia Kauste in collaboration with Juhana Lahti. Layout and design is by Ilkka Suppanen, one of the most renowned young designers of Finland.

Writers

Minna Tarkka is an active critic, producer and educator in media art and design. She has authored and edited works and published numerous articles on media and contemporary art. Currently she is Chair of m-cult, the Finnish Association for Media Culture and Senior Researcher at the National Consumer Research Center of Finland.

Erkki Huhtamo is a media researcher, curator and writer. He is Associate Professor of Media History and Theory at UCLA, Department of Design Media Arts.

Timothy Druckrey is a curator, writer, and editor living in New York City. He lectures internationally about the social impact of electronic media, the transformation of representation, and communication in interactive and networked environments.
