"The battle over indifferent minds"
is a modern and motorized version of historic battlescene paintings. The
installation reflects and questions the sublime depictions of violence
in our culture. It is a combination of old and new media techniques: a machinery of a flatbed scanner captures the viewer´s face while he or she is watching the magic lantern of a battlescene. Behind the screen moving colored light is projected on the immobile toy soldiers. Their shadows appear to perform a dance in slowmotion for the viewers on the other side. A captured image of the viewer is mixed in with the random videostream of faces. On the stream, animated superhero toys are celebrating their new scalp on the battle over indifferent minds. |
